New Delhi, Raj Ghat (where Gandhi was cremated)

Jan 9
Delhi is the capital of India, moved from Calcutta. It is crowded but feels more modern than Mumbai to me. There is a ton of construction, using basic and modern tools.

It was quite cold and foggy that day, which set the appropriate mood for going to the memorials in which Gandhi was assassinated and cremated in 1948. The memorial that has been created is powerful and beautiful.

Pictured here with the members of our Gandhi Legacy Tour.
Father and son walking toward the memorial of grandfather and great grandfather.

From above. At times, the grass is filed with people paying respects. Politicians hold rallies here as well. One was being set up for a photo op later this day. There are flowers surrounding the upper level.
Workers digging the land just on the perimeter. Tools are rudimentary.
Matt is the official photographer, thus has no pictures of himself. This proves he was here too!
